Coins and Currencies Collection


This collection is comprised of two sections. The first section presents the personal collection of the late Queen Effat Al-Thunayan — God have mercy on her — kindly donated to the Center by HRH Prince Turki AlFaisal. This section consists of more than 700 items, a mix of coins and paper currency. The second section of the collection is comprised of coins acquired by the Center, consisting of approximately 3,000 items from various periods of Islamic history.

 

 

Arabized Sassanid Dirham, dating to the reign of the Caliph Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan (41-60 AH)

 

 

Andalusian Dinar, dating to the reign of the ruler Sulaiman Al-Musta‘in Billah (minted in Andalusia in 408 AH)

 

 

Fatimid Dinar, dating to the reign of the Caliph al-Amir bi-Ahkam Allah (minted in 511 AH)

 

 

 

Abbasid Dinar, dating to the reign of the Caliph Harun al-Rashid (minted in 180 AH)

 

 

One Saudi Arabian Riyal (minted in Makkah in 1354 AH)
