HH Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al-Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, launched the “Takwin: Sciences and Innovation” exhibition in Sharjah. The exhibition was launched in the presence of HRH Prince Turki AlFaisal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the KFCRIS, and Sheikha Bodour Al-Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq).

House of Wisdom (HoW), Sharjah’s iconic library of the future, hosts the exhibition from Wednesday December 6, 2023 until Wednesday March 6, 2024.

The “Takwin” exhibition presents rare manuscripts in relation to science and innovation in the Arab-Islamic heritage. The exhibition originally took place at the KFCRIS between 2019 and 2022.

The exhibition emphasizes that Arab and Muslim scholars were not merely transmitters of knowledge, but pioneers who created new scientific specializations and theories, developed existing theories, and expanded in collection, classification, and indexing of knowledge.

Commenting on the exhibition, Mr. Ibrahim Aldeghaither, Assistant to the Secretary-General of KFCRIS, said: “Takwin is an exhibition that showcases rare manuscripts in relation to sciences and innovation in the Arab-Islamic heritage. The exhibition originally took place at KFCRIS between 2019 and 2022. This year, it is being hosted in the United Arab Emirates by the House of Wisdom, Sharjah’s iconic library of the future, to continue with the exhibition’s journey of presenting the Arab and Islamic scientific heritage, honoring the contributions of our early pioneers, and making these magnificent scientific treasures accessible to the new generations.”

Marwa Al-Aqroubi, HoW’s Executive Director, expressed her pride in the cooperation with KFCRIS to realize the noble goals of the exhibition. She further extended gratitude to HRH the Ruler of Sharjah for his firm patronage and support of the initiatives that enhance society’s knowledge and introduce to the current and future generations the history of Islamic sciences, emphasizing that the exhibition will inspire its visitors to revive those sciences in the Arab and Islamic world.
