On Monday, May 13, 2024, Translating Cultures Lab at King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies (KFCRIS) with the support of Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, hosted an online lecture entitled "After the 'Cultural Turn' in Translation Studies: Confronting the Challenge of ChatGPT".
The lecture was delivered by Prof. Wang Ning, a prominent Chinese scholar of translation studies and comparative literature. Prof. Wang, Distinguished Professor at Beijing Institute of Technology and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, discussed the challenges that AI and machine translation pose to ethically produced and culturally informed translation efforts.
Prof. Moneera Al-Ghadeer (Head of the UNESCO Chair in Translating Cultures at KFCRIS) introduced the Chair, the Lab, and the moderator Dr. Mohammed Al-Sudairi (ANU and KFCRIS Translating Cultures Lab).
